- Franklin, North Carolina Gem Mining - The Franklin, NC Chamber of Commerce lists many mining and rock hunting opportunities in the area, along with rock shops and museums.
- The Grand Traverse Bay Underwater Preserve - This site has interesting archaeological information on the West Grand Traverse Bay petroglyphs, shipwrecks and other items of interest in the bay.
- Mt. Ida and Hot Springs, Arkansas Area Quartz Crystal Hunting - This state of Arkansas website lists many quartz crystal hunting operations in the area.
- Black Hills Institute of Geological Research, Inc. - This website has great information and resources regarding paleontology and the earth sciences. It is regarded by many as the best supply house for items for study and teaching of these subjects.
- Mindat.org Lists Minerals Found at Your Favorite Mine or Collecting Location - This is a great free resource to look up mineralogical information. Try it by typing in a U.P. copper mine, like the Quincy, and see what minerals have been found there.
- Big Rapids Rock, Gem and Mineral Club - A new club formed in Gig Rapids, Michigan in 2009. Check out the "You May Be A Rockhound If" page.
- Tulip City Gem and Mineral Club, Inc. - This large club in Holland, Michigan is an active one with many field trips and programs.
- Ishpeming Rock and Mineral Club - This club has its home in the northern center of the Upper Peninsula where may iron and gold mine sites dot the landscape.
- Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club - Copper Country has its own club that is based in Houghton, Michigan, the center of many rockhounds' paradise in the Keweenaw Peninsula of the Upper Peninsula.
